چکیده
Background: In 2017, the international league against epilepsy (ILAE) classification of epilepsies described “genetic generalized epilepsies”, which contained “idiopathic epilepsies”. This study delineates four syndromes comprising IGEs: childhood absence epilepsy, juvenile myoclonic (JME), and with tonic-clonic seizures alone (GTCA). JME patients usually present seizures, GTCA GTCS only after awakening from sleep. Aim was to identify differences between by semiology EEG updated terminology under observation clinicians. Methods: a prospective observational conducted in clinic, department neurology, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib medical university, February 2021 July 2022. The sample size 60. Results: Among 60 patients, family history 12 (20%) 6 (10%) respectively. this study, finding spike-wave (2.5-5.5 Hz) seen 26 (43%) 19 (32%) among Generalized Polyspike wave normal 15 out epilepsy. findings, 2.5-5.5 Hz should be diagnosed as special group IGEs. Conclusions: we have recognized differentiated IGE grouping IGEs is helpful they carry prognostic therapeutic implications.

Objective: To investigate possible immunological humoral correlates in newly diagnosed adult-onset generalized tonic-clonic epilepsy among Iranian patients before and after sodium valproate treatment. Patients and Methods: 72 adult patients with newly diagnosed idiopathic generalized tonic-clonic epilepsy were recruited. Serum antinuclear antibodies (ANA), anti-cardiolipin antibodies (aCL), a...
متن کاملCerebellum Abnormalities in Idiopathic Generalized Epilepsy with Generalized Tonic-Clonic Seizures Revealed by Diffusion Tensor Imaging
Although there is increasing evidence suggesting that there may be subtle abnormalities in idiopathic generalized epilepsy (IGE) patients using modern neuroimaging techniques, most of these previous studies focused on the brain grey matter, leaving the underlying white matter abnormalities in IGE largely unknown, which baffles the treatment as well as the understanding of IGE. In this work, we ...
متن کاملPerampanel for tonic-clonic seizures in idiopathic generalized epilepsy
OBJECTIVE To assess efficacy and safety of adjunctive perampanel in patients with drug-resistant, primary generalized tonic-clonic (PGTC) seizures in idiopathic generalized epilepsy (IGE). METHODS In this multicenter, double-blind study (ClinicalTrials.gov identifier: NCT01393743; funded by Eisai Inc.), patients 12 years or older with PGTC seizures and IGE were randomized to placebo or peramp...
متن کاملCarbamazepine treatment of generalized tonic–clonic seizures in idiopathic generalized epilepsy
PURPOSE Evaluate the efficacy of carbamazepine in the treatment of idiopathic generalized epilepsy (IGE). METHOD The response of five patients with IGE, who experienced primarily generalized tonic-clonic seizures which were refractory to multiple antiepileptic drugs, is reported. RESULTS Carbamazepine controlled multiple seizure types and did not induce or increase the frequency of myocloni...
متن کاملThe electroencephalogram of idiopathic generalized epilepsy.
Idiopathic generalized epilepsy (IGE) is classified into several subsyndromes based on clinical and electroencephalography (EEG) features. The EEG signature of IGE is bisynchronous, symmetric, and generalized spike-wave complex; although focal, irregular, and so called "fragments" of discharges are not uncommon. Other characteristic EEG features include polyspikes, polyspike-wave discharges, oc...
